We all have a role to play in using all the resources we have wisely and sustainably. A world that is respected, nurtured and loved will be a better place.
“We don't inherit the Earth, we borrow it from our children.” Native American proverb
Here is my green voice: While the Planet is crying for help, Y for Yoga is doing its part to make a difference. This is why sharing and encouraging green actions and being transparent about sustainable business practices is vital for progress and change.
So far, this is what we have done:
- creating a little community library for books and seeds and using some of these books in our yoga classes. The community library was designed and crafted by a woman called Té Azha and the materials used was reclaimed wood, from a local company called SoloWood Recycling (based in Croydon).
- using second-hand items, sourced from local charity shops.
- being paper-free: using laptops for lesson plans and whiteboards to share the lesson plans with students.
- only using effective, hand-made, environmentally friendly cleaning products for the yoga mats and equipment we use.
- educating young children about global warming and climate change through storytelling.
